Back To School Backpacks - September 2006

Rosie's Love distributed 128 backpacks to the children at the clinic in preparation of the new school year. The backpacks were filled with age appropriate school supplies and were very well received. The back to school backpack project was a joint effort with Ronald MacDonald House and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Rosie's Love volunteers Georgia and Nikki VanVorst were the project coordinators. This was the fifth year Rosie's Love has provided back to school items for the children. If anyone would like to make an in-kind donation of school supplies they may contact me to arrange for pick-up of the items.

Hillside School Children Get Involved - May 2006

Mrs. Robitaille's 1st graders show off the 'Peace' quilt that they created to give comfort to a family whose child is in need of a bone marrow transplant. This year the Hillside School theme is "My Peaceful Place". So each member of Mrs. Robitaille's class was asked to make a quilt square which described their own unique peaceful place. The squares were assembled into one large quilt. The quilt was provided to Rosie's Love founder Pat Hedgeman. Pat will provide the quit to the afflicted child at Albany Medical Center prior to leaving for the bone marrow transplant.
